CEO, Malaysia Green Building Council
Mitch Gelber has extensive experience in the fields of architectural design and sustainability. He holds a
Bachelor of Arts in Urban Design from Columbia University in New York and a Masters of Architecture
from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
Prior to being appointed CEO of the Malaysia Green Building Council (malaysiaGBC), Gelber served for more than 10 years on the Green Building Index (GBI) Technical Committee. He currently chairs
malaysiaGBC’s Advancing Net Zero Task Force, edited the 2019 book Greening Malaysia: Building Towards
Sustainability and has previously taught at the University of Malaya, School of Architecture.
As principal of YIDesign Sdn Bhd, he consults on building and planning projects both within Malaysia and
abroad. Originally from the United States, Gelber has been based in Malaysia since 2007.
