The New Companies Act 2016

The New Companies Act 2016 that came into force in stages from Jan 31 this year was intended to increase the ease of doing business in Malaysia but in the interim, there have been many misunderstood aspects and clauses within the Act. Hence, The Star presents a comprehensive half day session aimed at providing an overview of the key changes of the new Companies Act 2016 and contrast it with the old Act.

This overview will emphasise on changes which facilitates the conduct of businesses including new legal requirements such as no par value and abolition of Annual General Meetings. Issues posed by the new Act will be highlighted and practical tips will be given on action which needs to be taken by a company.

The session is mainly intended to focus on non-public listed companies including SMEs. It is targeted at directors and key management of such companies who will need to understand the changes not only for their own companies but also the new regime which govern their customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
